Global Nanotechnology Industrialization begun to take shape

Recently, at U.S. nanotechnology strategy seminar held in Virginia, USA, the U.S. National Science Foundation released a survey report, called "long-term impact and study orientation of nanotechnology”. At the request of the U.S. National Science Foundation, the World Technology Evaluation Center launched a survey worldwide, aimed at understanding the progress in the past 10 years and the future direction of nanotechnology, and the top 200 scientists from 35 countries participated in this work and complete the survey. The report shows that in the past 10 years, the concept of "nano" has transferred from "rampant speculation" into the "real substantive science and engineering achievements". In nanotechnology research, nano-biological systems and nano-medicine will become the "most exciting and fastest-growing areas.
Nanotechnology is one of the most competitive areas of research. According to the report, the worldwide market value of the products based on nanotechnology has more than 250 billion U.S. dollars. Looking ahead, the report calls for the industry to pay more attention to material innovation, industrialization, employment creation and social investment returns, while taking measures to ensure public safety and nanotechnology environmental, health and safety impacts of mainstreaming research systems. Report argues that "there is no reason to fear miniaturization, but because all these are new chemical substances, it is necessary to obtain regulatory approval, and to develop a reasonable plan."
In the seminar, Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands nano technology and science policy expert David Belt also put forward the common problem of the field of nanotechnology research: "some process routes after careful consideration at the outset are considered promising, but perhaps take longer than expected, or difficult to obtain production license; while, some process technologies initially are only researcher's whim was able to bring the earth-shaking changes.
